Maple

Maple is hard, strong, heavy, even, fine texture. The fine, even texture of maple and its high luster make this hardwood a popular species furniture and cabinets. It also includes curly grain patterns and mineral streaks. This wood is a staple when it comes to cabinets, millwork, interior doors, and more.

Paint Grade Maple

Maple is an excellent wood for painted cabinets because of its smooth, fine, and uniform grain. It allows for paint to adhere evenly for a flawless finish, holding up beautifully over time. At Hilltop it is used for cabinetry, doors, hoods, trim, interior doors and more.

Rift White Oak

Rift White Oak is a dense, solid wood with a straight, even grain pattern. It offers a clean and modern look and is very popular because of its unique cutting methods and elegant appearance.

Quartersawn White Oak

Quartersawn White Oak is a dense, solid wood with a straight grain pattern, with rays and flecks from the method of sawing. This wavy look gives a unique look that is highly valued for many cabinetry designs.

Rustic White Oak

Rustic White Oak is a dense, solid wood with a variety of grain patterns and knots. It gives a more down-to-earth feel and is very popular as a modern farmhouse design.

Cherry

Cherry has a fine, even texture and straight grain. It has a combination of fine texture and wavy but even grain and reddish mid-tone color. Cherry tends to have some dirty patches or flecks, pin pockets and mineral streaks. The wood darkens very quickly after finishing to create a deep, warm color.

Walnut

Walnut is straight grained with streaky dark brown heartwood that can have a purple hue. It finishes beautifully in interesting colors and textures. This versatile hardwood is dark in color and light in weight. Walnut is a very popular lumber worldwide for furniture and cabinet making.

Hickory

Hickory is strong, straight or wavy grain. Coloring is sometime inconsistent with occasional thin, dark brown lines. Finished Hickory has a hard surface and a good luster can be achieved. At Hilltop we use stains to emphasize the open grain patterns.

Red Oak

Red oak is an American classic when it comes to cabinets, furniture, millwork and more. Red oak heartwood is a light to medium brown, often with a reddish cast. It is a very hard and tough variety with a straight grain that has a coarse and uneven texture. This wood accepts a variety finishes in a uniform manner.

Alder

Alder is a moderately light hardwood, with a smooth surface with straight grain that is inconspicuous making this a popular choice for interior doors and millwork. Alder is receptive to a variety of stains and finishes. With the stains we use at Hilltop, we can make Alder imitate other species.

Cabinet Finishes

Hilltop uses a conversion varnish that is strong and durable, offering the best finish option in the industry. It is more durable than lacquer and water-based finishes and maintains the wood’s beautiful color over time.
